Leading The Way: Acceptance of Cannabis
Cannabis has been legalized in South Africa, but what does this mean? For one, it entails that cannabis will be more openly used, and though much stigma has come to pass, we still need to consider how shall we integrate this herb into society. Our position stands that cannabis should be respected for its medicinal properties, and citizens should be educated. Not only does this disperse with old myths, but also helps individuals to make informed decisions about what they put into their bodies, and what social behaviours are acceptable to bring about a positive community environment.
Is Cannabis Fully Legal?
Yes, but with restrictions. The Private Purpose Bill, signed into motion in 2024, has made it a right for South African individuals to possess and consume cannabis freely within private property
